Testimonials to Second Chance Dog Rescue

We are so happy with Rusty (formerly Diego). Rusty is a perfect fit with our family and current dog (Dinger). The dogs had to figure out the "Alpha Male" thing but now are best of friends. Our 10 yr. old son, Aidan, wanted a dog that would "play" and could "catch a ball". The Jack Russell in Rusty is well suited for this and my son loves playing catch with his new dog. Your website is obviously user friendly because Aidan did all the research and found your site and this dog all by himself. It's pretty amazing to me that a 10 yr. old could actually find exactly what he wanted and at the same time found such a sweet and well behaved dog as Rusty. I often wonder why this dog needed rescuing. He doesn't run away, chew up furniture and has learned quickly to "potty" outside. He even has a quiet side that lets him relax when it's time to do so.

Your 10 day dog return policy takes all the "buyer remorse" worries out of dog ownership and made it easy for us to give Rusty a try. Sandra Simpson was so nice and let us have the time we needed to take a good luck at Rusty(Diego) and how he interacted with Dinger right at the shelter. I hope most of your adoptions go as well as this did for us. Attached are a couple of pictures. The single dog picture is "Rusty" and the two dog pic is Rusty & Dinger together. Leland C. "OMG! Our dog Duke (Shadow to you) is one of the joys of our life! He is such a sweet, affectionate, happy healthy dog. We were very impressed by your organization's dedication and reasonable prices. We received every single bit of pertinent information, and the follow up made it obvious how much you all care. I wish every stray dog in the world could be rescued by you. I don't have a picture downloaded on my computer, but he is DEFINITELY happy ever after material. We did have to stand around quite a while, because the gal was so busy, but we didn't mind. We got to know Duke a little. It was worth the wait. Good luck in all you do!"  Eva Q. -October 2009

"Thanks to a wonderful girl naned Kacy these guys will be fine. Sandra Simpson from second chance rescue is an angel and has agreed to take the family into there rescue program. and Thank you to the Border Patrol for there help in rescuing this girl and helping me get the family out of the dirt hole she was living in. These guys are amazing for what they do. I wanted to let everyone know there all going to be okay."  Anonymous post on Craigslist.org - October 2009

"Thank you for all the work you do, we would love to have our dog listed on your Happily Ever After section of your website. We adopted Breeze , her name was Aqua when we adopted her, on July 11. 2009 at WAGS, she is a Border Collie mix who is about 10 Months old.  Since we adopted her she has learned all her obedience commands and has started learning to play both Flyball and Disc Dog, she gets along great with our other 2 dogs (both also adopted).  She loves to play and works very hard to please us.  Her favorite trick  is to give us a high five, she is a very smart dog and we love having her in our family.  I have attached a picture of Breeze and one of Breeze with her new pack Rally and Savvy."  "Second Chance Dog Rescue, We initially fostered and then adopted a dog through you approximately 6 months ago.  We could not have been happier with the whole process.  We repeatedly refer you to friends who ask about our dog Elmer (formerly known as "Taco Bill").  Elmer is a very personable dog that constantly gets attention from people on the street who say that he is either the "coolest" or "cutest" little dog they have ever seen.  We enjoy coming home to Elmer every single day.  The work you do is outstanding.  The "settling in" period made things a lot easier in terms of adjusting to having another "individual" in our home. Since this is our first dog (as adults) it was good to know that even after the adoption that we could call you with questions, referrals to vets etc.  We can honestly say that there is not single thing we would change about the whole process.   We love our dog, and we hope Second Chance continues to do the excellent work you are doing. Thank you. David & Megan. attachment: Elmer's favorite place to take a nap in the afternoon. David -October 2009

"Dear Team Members of Second Chance Dog Rescue, My name is Clayton C. and I am a volunteer Dog Handler at the Escondido Humane Society and one of the members of "Team Blackie". First, I want to say it is with great satisfaction that I enclose the $ donation/incentive check as promised for the placement of our friend "Blackie" from the EHS in September! A simple "Thank You" seems inadequate for all your helped accomplish in the placing of Blackie. All the time, effort, energy (internet ads, phone calls, vido, Kay showing up on Sunday to insure the placement went by the book, ect) all of you unselfishly gave made finding Blackie a home (and the dream home at that!) possible!! Also, it is recognized by many of the staff and volunteers at EHS how important Second Chance Dog Rescue is on a regular basis to EHS in helping find homes for dogs in need."  Clayton C. - October 2009

"Shandy is just wonderful. She was playing with me tonight. Our other dog is desperate to play with her which is great because he is so docile that we worry he doesn't get enough exercise. We have a large piece of property at the end of a private road so the dogs can come and go as they please. Shandy seems so comfortable already. I told my son and his wife they should get Sheffield as a companion for their dog a golden retriever-rescued of course. They live in the only other house on our road."  Polly M.- August 2009

"Just took a call from Mike E., the contractor.  He has adopted Tuff, the cattle dog.  He just called to say THANK YOU!!!! He 'could not be happier', she is just the perfect little dog and he is so grateful.  He says "she's in my truck and goin' to work with me right now...just couldn't have worked out any better."  Mike said he went to see Tuff last night--foster mom was just super-- and he took a friend with him.  Mike said he was really looking for a younger dog...and the friend said, "hell man, she was probably looking for a younger owner."  That sealed the deal."  Mike E.- August 2009

"Kai was rescued from a shelter where she was merely hours from being put to sleep.  Thanks to Jason Cordoba from Component Control (I’m proud to say one of our clients!), and Second Chance Dog Rescue, Kai was saved, and is now a member of our home. Over the months of May and June, Jason and his team have placed over 200 dogs into new homes!  All of these poor creatures were abandoned, and many of them would have been put to sleep like Kai if it weren’t for their love and dedication. If you claim to be an animal lover, please visit Jason’s site on a regular basis.  Tell as many people as you know about it. And if you’re looking for a new friend, be sure to look here first to save one of these wonderful creatures. For you FaceBook users, please sign up: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=76872820880  "  Andrew A.- July 2009

"Chance has brought me great joy for the past 6 mos since adopting him.  He is a sweet and gentle boy that always has his tail wagging.  All who meet him on our morning beach walks, cant resist a cracking a smile when they seeing his happy face. And neither can I." Colleen F. & Mr. Bon "Chance" -October 2009

"I can’t believe we adopted Phoebe a year ago.  It was such a great experience and she’s an amazing dog.  Your organization was very professional and I enjoyed meeting the volunteers that fostered Phoebe and that came out for the home visit. We think Phoebe is the perfect fit for our family.  She’s a happy, healthy fun member of the family."  Karin A. -October 2009

"Jason, I first have to tell you how much I admire your dedication, and I appreciate being kept in the loop.  My health has not been very well lately, and I can't do much, but am on the mend and will pitch back in when I can. My mother once told me when I got frustrated at feeling like doing too little, one candle doesn't seem like much, but a stadium full makes a really bright light.  I've always tried to remember that, and that all of us working together will make a difference.  My story--I fostered an albino pit bull for two months, who came to me as Gabriel from Jim and Susie.  He was about a year old, and was apparently hard of hearing.  Yet, he was very sociable, got along great with my fiance's dog (also a rescue dog, from Baja), and all others he came in contact with. (I ended up renaming him Dopey, after one of the Seven Dwarfs, but he never answered to that either!). It was certainly an interesting time, as I had to teach him how to get up my stairs, in the truck to travel, which he was great at.  The two dogs would play tug-of-war on a rawhide bone for hours while we held onto our coffee and the table.  It was terrific for me to have him here. Therapeutic on my end also, to have company. Dopey has since been adopted by a very nice couple, and I think they will do great together.  When the folks came to visit him at my home, Dopey laid on the gal's feet and rolled his belly up!  He really liked her, you could just tell.  And he was suspicious when they arrived, but not mean, which is good.  Just alert.  It just does my heart good to know that one life was saved. I miss the guy, and hope to help out more in the future. Best Wishes," Karen T. - October 2009

"We adopted our dog, Tony, from Second Chance in April of this year. We had been looking for a rescue dog, online and we went to a "doggie festival" over in Liberty Station. We had a wonderful experience with your organization - really from start to finish. Nicole Bettencourt contacted us after I sent an email inquiring about Tony, and she was just great. She came to our house and met our family, we have two young boys (10 and 6) and we got a chance to meet our new dog. She thought that Tony would do well with young kids, especially boys, and I think she was spot on. This dog loves my kids so much, it is a wonderful thing to watch. He sleeps with them each night, and is so excited to see them when they get home from school. We had a follow-up visit that was really professional, and a few follow-up emails .Your organization just really cares about the dogs and making sure that they are with with right family. I have recommended you to everyone that asks about our great dog.  I am sending a picture that we took the first week we got Tony - we just love him! Thanks very much,"  Suzannah C. - October 2009

"I adopted Daisy (known as Bella Louise at the time) in late August/early September. She is a terrier mix puppy, born in March. We had been looking for a friend for our other dog, Trudy, who had been left alone after the death of my beloved old dog. We tried a couple of other dogs with your organization, but they just didn’t work out for various reasons. Then we just happened on Daisy while at Sandra’s house.  Our dog Trudy and Daisy play all the time. They really adore each other. Daisy is a very sweet little dog, affectionate and eager to please.  I think your organization does a wonderful job. Thanks so much!" - Jenny G. - October 2009

"We rescued a five year old long-haired Chihuahua named Tinker for my 87 year old mom whose ShihTsu died three months earlier at age 13.  Mom was broken-hearted and lonely and Tinker has definitely filled her life.  She and Tinker are very happy together.  I or my daughter go over every day and give Tinker a good walk.  Tinker is a very happy-go-lucky dog and his energy helps mom to get up and around every day.  I would send a picture of mom and Tinker but don't have the technology. Thanks again for bringing Tinker into our lives." Helen K. and Sandi A- October 2009

"Hello, I did indeed adopt a little Chihuahua mix from Second Chance Rescue in March... it was love at first sight and he chose me.  He has now been renamed "Dixon" and as pamper as a pup can be!  I have definitely adopted the perfect dog and cannot believe my luck in getting such a wonderful dog.  He has a dedicated dog walker every day that I work, and he is definitely my dogwalker's favorite and a neighborhood fav too!! Thank you for doing what you do!  You allow amazingly wonderful dogs like Dixon a chance to make a lucky human happy!!! VR"  Grace L. -October 2009

"Emma has definitely found a "Happily ever after" home! My son Sam picked out, paid for and takes the BEST care of Emma. She was outside with my mom and I yesterday just lying in the sun and we were commenting on how fabulous she has been for our family - what I would like to do is have Sam write something up and send pictures to you" Carolyn B. -October 2009

"Thank you for the work that you and the volunteers do on a day-to-day bases.  With the many of you these dogs would never get a "2nd chance."  Cinnamon is truly a great asset to our family.  I have never since I've been a little boy adopted a dog and boy will I never regret it.  Cinnamon is truly a wonderful dog. The adoption process was painless.  What I really enjoyed is seeing the former "Heidi" mingling in her natural surroundings.  We knew from when we first met her that was going to make a wonderful fit for our family. Thank you again for everything. Sincerely"  Carrillo Family -October 2009

"We could definitely be on the "happily ever after" page!  I am not going to include a picture of our dog, as he is really camera shy (and I will honor is wishes, as he runs away every time I get out the camera)  Be that as it may, we love our pup, and are so pleased with Second Chance that when ever anyone asks where we got him, I tell them I'm so pleased with you all.  I've donated dog supplies and will go back to you if we ever decide to adopt another dog.  (At this point, we are very content with just one "baby").

Points that I appreciate about Second Chance:
1. great foster volunteers
2. nice to have everything taken care of 1st: ID chip, neuterd, shots, even dog supplies
3. home visit - helpful person (Judith)
4. great policy of return, etc... especially since this was our first dog
5. felt very professional and caring

I truly think you all are doing an incredible job and again, I will continue to recommend you to other prospective dog owners. Wishing you success in all that you do!  Sincerely" Alannah S. -October 2009

"First & foremost, Second Chance Dog Rescue does a phenomenal job...quite unbelievable actually.  That a 100% volunteer organization runs the way you, Sandra & Ally have set it up, have rescued about 800 dogs in the last year & that because of all your efforts, and that many dogs can sleep in a safe & comfortable place tonight because of you is astounding.  Words can't express how fabulous your organization is. That's my only feedback except to say that Second Chance Dog Rescue is an unbelievable organization & I'm proud to be a small small part of it." Louise A. -October 2009

"I adopted my dog from your organization and it was an amazing experience. Choclo is doing great at home and I would like to share a picture from his "before" and "after". You are free to publish his picture in your website. I would like to foster for a dog. I have only one dog and a cat at home and we have plenty of room for fostering. Please let me know what the requirements are. We would probably like to start in January next year but we want to have everything ready by then. Here are the pictures of our beloved Choclo." "We adopted a chihuahua (gulliver) from you about 7 months ago. the process was so quick and easy! it was also helpful to adopt a dog that was spayed and nurtured already and the treatment he got before was great. his new name is doody and he is doing great. hes a typical chi and is babied to the fullest. we love him so much, thank you for rescuing him. attached is a photo of doody. thank you again" Stephanie M. - October 2009

"My dog is working out well and is a very loving pet. We are going on some extra off leash training such as rattlesnake awareness, coyote and wild dog awareness and such. I am planning a 1000 mile walk down Baja next year an my dogs will be a big part of it. Your organization does a wonderful job and I cannot express my heartfelt thanks for all the lives you have saved. I am planning on starting an adoption shelter in Loreto, Baja Ca. Sur after my walk.
Keep up Gods work." Mike Y. - October 2009

"We are so thankful for Second Chance Dog Rescue for helping Jasper and Gracie (once known as Shawn and (hawnee) become part of our family. Every time I was at Sandra's house, I was amazed at how many dogs and people Second Chance was helping. From the welcoming committee of dogs in the courtyard, the never ending phone calls and emails, the foster care providers coming by with dogs snuggled in their laps, a volunteer returning with a group of dogs that had been spayed or neutered, I was amazed at how much effort, love, and commitment goes into your organization. As I write this, Jasper and Gracie have been part of our family for a little over four months. We couldn't imagine being without them. They are loving, playful, happy puppies who have made our home a happier place. My kids often look up at me when the pups are cozy in their laps and tell me how lucky we are that we were able to have them join our family. Thank you for all you do!" "Hello! I got my little "Lotti" aka "lotti-dah". I LOVE THIS LITTLE dog!!!!!  My experience was very good - very inexpensive to get a "ready to go dog"  meaning with first set of vaccines and a spay or neuter included. A home visit to make sure she was in a good home.  Good job all of you volunteers!!!  I own a mobile pet grooming business and would love to contribute any way I can to help make dogs more adoptable, I have been in contact with some gal in Poway and was talking about getting in touch with you, Jason, but never got connected with you. Please let me know if I can be of service to the dogs in any way  :) Thanks for all you do" Erin - October 2009

"Congratulations on Second Chance Dog Rescue's first year anniversary!  I love the organization's dedication to fostering dogs and finding them suitable homes.  There are so many dogs in need of a good home out there and the effort your organization puts into caring for those dogs is much appreciated.  I adopted Berkeley, a 1 and a half lab husky mix, a couple months ago and the both of us are really happy together.  He is such a great pup and is now fully house trained.  The first couple weeks were tough since he was so energetic, had territory marking issues, and did not respond well to my calls but now he is a great listener and follows me around everywhere!  He is great with other dogs especially since he now lives with 2 other dogs.  He has a great sense of adventure and we have lots of fun together.  I have attached a couple pictures of him to this email." "I have nothing but wonderful things to say about everyone at Second Chance Dog Rescue!  You can tell these are a bunch of folks who are concerned with only one thing…. finding the dogs good and loving homes!  They were prompt and thorough and not absorbed in useless red tape like some other “rescue” service we had spoken with.  We have Apple in our family now for 6 months now and can’t imagine what it was like without her.  Thank you Second Chance for bringing us together!   (on the second picture, Apple [left] is pictured with her “sister” Koki)." "My husband Manny, our Jack Russell Rocky and I adopted Zorro, a Chihuahua Dachshund mix through Sandra who lives in the Golden Hills part of San Diego.  I found Rocky 2 years ago literally roaming the streets and was able to find his owner who didn’t want him anymore after 10 years.  After a year or so, we noticed he was depressed staying at home by himself for 10-11 hours a day while my husband and I were at work.  So, we decided Rocky needed a buddy.  After reviewing hundreds of email stories and photos of doggies that were looking for a home, I instantly fell in love with Zorro’s photo on your website.  I knew I had to meet this particular doggie.  We took Rocky to meet with Sandra and Zorro mid-May of this year.  I fell in love with Zorro the second I saw him.  I took both doggies for a walk in Balboa Park near Sandra’s home that day and they got along just fine, so we took Zorro home and he’s become a loving member of our family ever since.  Rocky has had an absolute re-birth. So, our rescuing Zorro has had a profound impact on our family.  My husband is absolutely smitten with him as am I.  Rocky loves him and they just love to chase each other around the house and yard.  So, thank you Second Chance Dog Rescue from the bottom of my heart!!!" "I adopted Rianna (Husky/Border Collie mix) from Sandra while she was with Baja Animal Sanctuary in May 2008.  When I learned that Second Chance was being organized, I volunteered to be a foster mom for Siberian Huskies and/or Alaskan Malamutes and Rianna volunteered to be a foster sister!  Rianna loves being a volunteer!  Here's a picture of Rianna. YOU ARE ALL DOING A GREAT JOB!!!! I AM PROUD TO BE A PART OF IT!" Barbara O. - October 2009

Hi, I adopted Tia Maria (Lupita) in May of this year. She is a real sweetheart and just adores me. She loves to walk and she will play ball only won't bring it back to you all the way. I'm having a little trouble breaking her of barking so much when people come to visit or when they walk by my front windows. She is doing better.Your paper work said she was between 7 and 9 years old but the vet thinks she is about 5 years old. Thank you for rescueing her.   Esther F. -October 2009

"When I first found your organization, I decided to help out as a foster home. My boyfriend and I came in that same day, found a dog to foster, and immediately fell in love. That week we learned that we were called "FF's"... failed fosters. I thought the term was pretty funny, but am soooo happy to be a failed foster. Rocket (called both Rocket and Rocco while at your organization) is an amazing dog. We have spent time rehabilitating him, and giving him the training, exercise and love that he needs. He is now a happy, healthy pup! Thank you for our Rocket!   Sara D. -October 2009

"My name is Randi T., and I have done foster for Second Chance.  I am an avid animal lover and protector and am so impressed by Second Chance.  I found you by looking on Craigslist to adopt a older dog because I lost my senior citizen dog and in her honor I wanted to rescue and give an older dog and give the dog a loving home.  When I called I found out that you had a greater need for foster homes than adoptive homes at that time,so  I decided to foster.
The first dog that came to me was Valencia now known as Bella, and she is an older dog around 10 or 11 years old and had the most broken spirit.  She was afraid of everything. I knew then, I couldnt have her go to another home.  She was so broken.  If you could see her now, she is frolicking around with my 3 other dogs and comes to work with me every day and greets all my customers.  She is making up for lost time making sure she gets a pet from everyone who walks in the door.  Because of Second Chance Bella and hundreds of other dogs have been given a Second Chance.  I have done fosters for a couple other of wonderful dogs who went on to find forever families.
I tell everyone I know who is looking for a dog to go to the Second Chance website and find a dog there. I also referred a good friend of mine Jen, to do volunteer work with Second Chance and she did a school project and video on Second Chance because she was so impressed by what you do. She even adopted a puppy from you that she just loves so much.
I cannot sing your praises enough, I am so grateful for organizations like Second Chance that stand in the gap for our 4 legged friends.  Thanks again for all you do and look forward to helping in the near future.Sincerely"     Randi T. -October 2009

"I am very pleased with the Second Chance people I've met and those who have corresponded by e-mail.  All have been courteous, knowledgeable, and best of all - helpful.  It is what I would expect from a rescue group - so, no surprises there.  But there is a difference with your group that, in my mind, makes it stand out from the others.  It is your willingness to look at individual adoptions without arbitrary rules.  I'm speaking specifically of the rule, "The dog must be taken indoors with the family at night."  This rule prevented me from adopting from a Labrador rescue group, the San Diego Humane Society, the Escondido Humane Society, and the Helen Woodward Foundation.  My wife and I live on a fenced 3 acre country parcel and we were looking for a "ranch dog."  Our dog would have it's choice of where to sleep at night - an insulated dog house, a dog cushion near the front door, or anywhere else it wanted - except not indoors.  We adopted Charlotte from Second Chance after being told our plan was acceptable.  She is about the happiest dog that we've seen and now fits in quite well.  She is free to run, roam the fence area near the neighbor's dogs, visit the horses, and patrol for raccoons trying to steal cat food.  She knows not to come indoors and hasn't even tried to come in an open door.  So, thanks for being open minded where other rescue agencies automatically ruled us out."  Tom C. -October 2009

"I am so impressed with Second Chance!  As I have said several times to Sandra and Tarah, you people are angels!  We adore our little Jenny and look forward to adopting a second puppy pretty soon from Second Chance.  From the start communication was excellent and it continues to be excellent even after the adoption was completed.  Our little terrier mix puppy came to us fully spayed, with complete shots, and with a happy and vibrant personality.  Adjusting in our home was no adjustment at all and I am sure that is because she lived in a caring home environment prior to coming to us.  We couldn't be happier with the whole process.  Thank you for everything that you do! Love, peace and blessings," Jane S. -October 2009

"We LOVE Boomer he has fit in so well right from the first day we took him home.  I've sent Ally a bunch of photo's but will send some so you can pick which one for the happy ever after page.  What ever you are doing keep it up so many poor dogs out there don"t deserve being abanded."   Donna & Jack D. -October 2009

Cabo the Xoloitzcuintli is doing well and best buds with our other rescue dog, Bella the rat terrier.  He certainly attracts attention on his daily walks in the neighborhood.  He's a funny and sweet guy and I get such a kick out of watching the two of them wrestle and chase.  I would attach a picture but guess I don't have one handy on this computer. Blwskeke - October 2009

We adopted a dog ("Lucky") from you last February 10 and he has become the light of our life.  We feel very fortunate to have found you and him.  He is a perfect fit for us and for our life style.  Your adoption procedure seemed very reasonable to us, as did your charge.  We actually first saw your web site when we were visiting family in Northern California.  Fortunately, Lucky was living here. Janet & Milton C - October 2009

"I really like the adoption process of Second Chance.  I think the "settling in" period gives the adopter some peace of mind.  A good fit for the family AND for the dog is what is important.  My pup, Bella, from Second Chance and I just celebrated our 1 year together on Halloween...we are on your Happily Ever After webpage :) Looking forward to meeting you and other Second Chance people at the Pints for Pups event." Dear Second Chance Dog Rescue,

We could not be more pleased with our new family member or your organization.  You are very much appreciated by both of us. Mark S. November 2009

"feedback for efforts made are always helpful, positive or otherwise.
Just a few words about becoming a volunteer for Second Chance.  All I do is foster lovings dogs, do some home visits and help at the adoption events,  that are, I'm embarrassed to say, exhausting and all I do is show up with my foster, "chaperone" a cage, answer questions, etc.  Don't misunderstand -- I LOVE DOING IT -- but I've come to appreciate all the behind the scenes work that must get done.  Getting everything there and everything consists of so much more than I would have ever thought (tables, tents, water, cages, all the paperwork involved, and much, much more I'm sure.)  Then issues about getting all the dogs there.  Then you have to tear everything down.  And that's just an adoption event.
You have a big Karma "bank" and deservedly so.  You and Sandra and so many of the volunteers give so much of your time and energy after your regular jobs to make Second Chance work.  All the work done from homes, all of the fosters who foster more than 1 dog, often 2 & 3.)  The website, the transporting of dogs, data entry work, marketing & PR work that I'm sure is done--THANK YOU for letting me be a small part of  an amazing organization.  Special thanks to Alisa Pederson for initially getting me involved with you.  I sometimes tell her I hate her for getting me involved, but that's only when my fosters get adopted.  I can't help that I quickly get very attached and miss them when they go to their permanent homes!!  It's only gotten slightly easier the more I do it and I often have to remind myself that I'm doing a good thing. So you'll get no negative feedback from me except that I wish you'd let me help more. Thanks much", Sandi R. - November 2009

"Dear Jason, I adopted a dog in April of 2009!  He is a Coc--a--poo, really looks just like a Poodle!  I don't have a picture, and really wouldn't know how to send it to you.  I can email, and play one game.  He was named Louie, then Snoopy, and now since April ----"TEDDI" I am so happy to have him, and just LOVE him.  He is a lot of company. Sincerely," Dottie H. November 2009

"Dear Jason and Second Chance:
Our family adopted a doberman from you about 4 months ago, Garbo, and she has turned out to be one of the best dogs we have ever had ( and we have had dogs all of our lives.  She was a great find, the service of Second Chance was terrific.  You all handled everything just as you said you would and for that thank you.
Garbo goes to the dog park or beach at least once a day, she has traveled to AZ on multiple occasions, went on vacation with us to the the High Sierras where she was able to sleep through bear raids on the porch of the cabin.  She hasn't met a stranger and everyone asks where we got her = we tell them Second Chance.
Oh, yes, she has gained ten pounds and is really fit from all of the running she gets to do.  Our vet does work for Second Chance and he just loves her.
Congratulations, keep up the good work."  Ruthann M. and James S. November 2009

"I love our dog Frankie that we adopted through your organization.  I am attaching a photo of Frankie at dog beach this past weekend.  As you can probably see he is healthy and happy.  Thanks all around."  Danielle H. November 2009

"My name is Star, I'm a Second Chance dog! Helen and Steve adopted me last spring after seeing my picture and reading about me on the website. Second Chance and a lot of people with their dedication and love made my second chance possible. There’s Sandra, Lynn, my foster person Anna, my vet, my surgeon, the staff at the clinic, and a lot of other volunteer folks along the way that Steve doesn't know about. A while back Steve took me to an adoption event, it was great to see so many old friends. They were busy finding homes for dogs like me. Steve takes me for a walk just about every day. A couple of times a week we go to a secret park in Clairemont where I can run leash-free on the grass fields. I love to run. If we get there early, I visit with some of my dog buddies. I'm lucky to be a Second Chance dog!"  Star October 2009

"His name was Carlos when he was listed with you. I have named him yuki. I really love him. It took some time to get used to but now I couldn't live without him!" Megan M. November 2009

"We love our Baby Bella. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. We thought that we needed a new friend for Kylie because our big dog Jake wasn't interested in playing with her anymore. We adopted Bella (you called her Ariel) and it took some time, but now Kylie and Bella are best friends. They play and run around after each other and it has helped Kylie take off some extra pounds which is good for her health. Thanks to all of you and your wonderful organization. I know Bella thanks you too"   Sheri and Scott G. November 2009

"I just want to take a minute and thank Second Chance Dog Rescue for giving me the best gift ever...my puppy Phoebe!  Phoebe is truly the best dog out there!  She is smart, well behaved and just the best companion I could have ever imagined!  Thank you so much for taking in these dogs who are abandoned and/or abused.  They really do just need a second chance, and it makes me so happy to know that so many of these dogs are being rescued by your orginazation.  Thank you to the volunteers for opening your homes and hearts to these wonderful dogs...your compassion for helping these animals leads to people finding so much joy in a new pet!  I don't have a picture of Phoebe and I, but I did attach a picture of just Phoebe wearing her cute santa outfit from Christmas eve just a few weeks ago!
Thank you again for all you guys do,"
Julie =)
